2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Chevy’s Camaro made the jump from show-floor concept to production with few compromises. But putting style ahead of practicality hurts things like trunk space and outward visibility. Camaro lovers are unlikely to care, though. They’ll be more interested in the new 550-hp ZL1 version.

Highs

Superhero design, modern and refined chassis, strong brakes, surprising V-6 power, stupefying ZL1 performance.

Lows

Feels larger and heavier than a Ford Mustang, cheap interior, tiny trunk, poor outward visibility.

What's New :

Introduced for 2010; for 2012, a new ZL1 packs a supercharged V-8 with 550 horsepower.

Behind The Wheel

A big customer, the Camaro isn’t afraid of track or drag-strip abuse. New ZL1 has the power to shock and amaze.
