Hamilton demoted for irregularities
Lewis Hamilton loses his pole position of the Spanish GP . The English McLaren driver was relegated to last position on the recommendation of CommissionersFIA , which judged not according to the amount of fuel present in the car at the end of qualifications . Lewis stopped his car after winning the best time, without reaching the park closed for the relevant checks, thus violating Article 6.6.2 of the Technical Regulations .
The team argued that the stop had been imposed by a technical fault, and not because the car had entered the qualification dry. For this reason the Stewarts have assessed the penalty . The article in question says that the machine (which must come to the park closed and not push themselves) must have at least 1 liter of petrol for the checks , except in cases of force majeure.
This might even leave room for maneuver to the commissioners to take a different decision, given the vagueness of the concept of unspecified "force majeure". The article also does not explain even the penalty provided for, but it was also decided to leave the McLaren of Hamilton last on the grid. Good news for Williams and Maldonado , who are celebrating an unexpected pole position, but still came after a 'good status . And good news for Ferrari and Alonso who will start in the front row so just in his home race.
