2014 Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra is updated for 2014 with a fresh front end and squared-off fenders. It was revealed Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show.
The new design is meant to play up a "chiseled" and "modern industrial" image, though the changes are relatively slight. The grille is taller, the front bumpers use a new three-piece design and the sheetmetal is a bit more blocky. In back, the bed has a new look, a three-piece bumper and updated taillights.
Toyota is calling this the most significant refresh since the Tundra's launch as a 2007 model. The styling also plays to the rough-and-tough demeanor the company conveys with the Texas-built truck.
The cabin is reworked with a new seat design and instrument panel. It also will offer a blind-spot monitor, standard backup camera and Bluetooth.
The engine selection is carried over from the current Tundra: a 4.0-liter V6 rated at 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque, a 4.6-liter V8 making 310 hp and 327 lb-ft, and a 5.7-liter V8 pushing out 381 hp and 401 lb-ft. The V8s are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 gets a five-speed auto. The highest rated towing package can pull 10,400 pounds.
The Tundra comes in five trims: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and a new 1794 edition.
The ranch where the Tundra factory in San Antonio, Texas, is located was founded in 1794.
The truck will be sold with a two-door cab, four-door double cab and four-door crew configuration. All can be equipped with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The Tundra's 2012 sales of 101,621 ranked a distant fifth on the U.S. charts, behind the Ford F-series, which led with 645,316 units, the Chevrolet Silverado (418,312), the Ram 1500 pickup (293,363) and the GMC Sierra (157,185).
