2012 Bentley Continental GTC

Hot on the heels of the recently reworked Continental GT coupe, the convertible follows with similar updates to the exterior and interior styling, powertrain, and features. The GTC continues with a power soft top, 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.

The Continental GTC’s engine remains a heavily massaged unit from Bentley-parent Volkswagen. For 2012, it produces 567 horsepower, up from 552. Torque increases to 516 lb-ft from 479. With this power increase comes the ability for the engine to run on gasoline and/or E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Bentley engineers also reprogrammed the automatic transmission for faster downshifts. Zero-60 mph takes just 4.5 seconds, and the car is capable of a 195-mph top speed.

The interior retains its blend of genuine wood and high-grade leather. New climate controls are designed for easier use. The standard navigation system now incorporates a touchscreen with fewer interface buttons. A new feature of the Continental GTC is a neck warmer designed to keep driver and front passenger more comfortable when driving with the top down on chilly days.

Options include 21-inch wheels (up from standard 20s), carbon-ceramic brake discs, a high-end Naim-brand audio system, and the ability for the customer to choose pretty much any paint/interior color combination their heart desires.
